The children at Soldiers Road enjoy the Rolls Royce of playgrounds - one of the biggest and most well-resourced outdoor spaces ever seen in any childcare service.
Our renovated playground is natural and picturesque. It has been carefully designed to ensure quality learning outcomes and healthy development for children through all ages and stages of development. The children spend many hours outdoors exploring the vast environment which includes unique features such as a large sailing boat and structured musical equipment. If you have a child who loves being outside, is energetic and needs plenty of space to run and play, then Soldiers Road is an essential consideration on your childcare shopping list. We invite families who are looking for care to visit our service and see our vast, beautiful outdoor space.
Soldiers Road is led by one of Council's most experienced Centre Directors, with more than 20 years’ experience. She has worked in our Children's Services unit for more than 15 years and directed at six of our other centres.
Soldiers Road has been part of the local community for 21 years. Many families return to the centre when new siblings come along. It is highly regarded for delivering quality early education and care and operates under Council's stringent safety, compliance and quality requirements.
Soldiers Road is open from 7am-6.15pm, 51 weeks of the year.
Families enjoy regular insights into their children's learning via a safe and secure communication app called Educa. Educa allows families to view and share learning stories, photos and videos, and collaborate with Educators about their child’s development, from the comfort of their phone.
Soldiers Road is located opposite Jannali Public School and is a short walk to Jannali train station. We are situated among residential homes - an easy place for parents to park and walk to the local train station.
The children enjoy regular excursions encompassing interactive, cultural and educational experiences. We visit the local library, fire brigade, shops and primary school to enjoy events and play dates. We also attend annual NAIDOC celebrations at Gunnamatta Park and have visited Symbio. The community also comes to Soldiers Road. We have loved our visits from a local Aboriginal artist, librarians, Rangers on the Run animal encounters and the fire brigade. Excursions and incursions are an important part of our holistic learning program. All experiences are intentionally planned from children’s interests to extend their learning.
All Council Early Education Centres deliver a curriculum which provides children with academic and life skills education. We promote the development of language and literacy, numeracy, social and emotional skills, physical development and cognitive growth.
We enjoy a wonderful relationship with Jannali Public School. The children visit the Kindergarten classroom and library to participate in activities with the Kindergarten children. The children in our care also take their lunch boxes and enjoy lunch with the 'big kids' in the playground. These experiences develop a positive perspective of school and ease any anxieties among new school starters.
We also enjoy the school's Easter Hat Parade and other community events. We also host ‘read to me’ days where school children visit Soldiers Road and read to the children.
Soldiers Road provides an eco-friendly cloth nappy service to babies and toddlers, at no additional cost to parents.
