Miranda Kindergarten is a well established community based preschool that has been providing high quality preschool education for over 60 years. Miranda Kindergarten is funded by the Department of Educations and is administered by our Management Committee of parents and staffed by qualified early childhood teachers and educators. Miranda Kindergarten is rated as Exceeding National Quality Standard.
Our educators use the Early Years Learning Framework when developing learning programs. We value a holistic approach to teaching and learning and we respond to children’s strengths, abilities and interests by providing learning experiences that are purposeful and thoughtful. We assist families and children in the skills required to feel confident in their transition to school.
Each day children are involved in a variety of indoor and outdoor experiences that include:
• Creatively and art
• Literacy and numeracy
• Construction and block play
• Imaginary play
• Investigation and problem solving
• Music and singing
• Fundamental movement skills
We operate between 8-4pm Monday to Friday in school terms. Enrolment is offered in 2 or 3 day a week groups:
Monday/Tuesday – 2 groups of 20 children
Thursday/Friday – 1 group of 20 children
Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday – 1 group of 20 children
Wednesday/Thursday/Friday – 2 groups of 20 children
Families are encouraged to put their children on the wait list as soon as possible. Priority of enrolment Is given to children:
• The year before they are eligible for school
• Who are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
• With disabilities
• Who are at risk of significant harm
• Whose families hold a current Low Income Health Care Card
• Who have English as a second language
